School of Traditional Arts Ticket Portal

This course is designed to support students to develop complex geometry painting projects, with support from an expert geometer. The class meets once a month to learn some key construction principles, and then students are given assignments to help them apply these principles in extended homework assignments between sessions. After the first session, a portion of class time will be spent giving feedback on the homework and answering questions which emerged during the past month.

In addition to a range of techniques for transitioning from single pattern elements to expansive tessellations, the course will also cover a few techniques for developing harmonious palettes.

While this course is not for beginners, those with confidence in constructing simple patterns will be able to rapidly build skills towards constructing larger compositions. More advanced students will be able to design their own dual-level compositions by the end of the course. This iteration of the course focuses exclusively on the 10-fold family of pattern.
