Introduction to Stained Glass: Paint a Roundel Portrait
In the 15th Century, stained glass art became more complex and naturalistic, with artists carefully modelling heads, hands, and feet on white glass using layered shading techniques.
This course explores that tradition through the reproduction of a historic roundel portrait—an important form in stained glass history. Students will gain practical experience in multi-layered painting, silver stain application, and basic glazing.
The course includes demonstrations, short talks, and individual guidance, culminating in a completed roundel featuring at least two layers of paint and one layer of silver stain.
