Indian Miniature Painting: The Birds of India

During this 6 week course we will delve into the world of Indian birds.
Commissioned by The East India company in the 17th Century, these wondrous collection of paintings use the techniques of Indian miniature painting whilst combining them with the style of Western bird studies.
Often depicted alongside beautiful plants we will study some of these compositions to create the detail found in these beautiful bird portraits. We will prepare our paper from staining to burnishing, and learn the traditional painting techniques from flooding, colour blending, to shading.
