Ganesha, the elephant-headed god, is worshipped as the bringer of success and prosperity and is often shown seated upon a bed of lotus flowers, a symbol of light, knowledge, and truth. Lord Krishna appears in many forms, frequently depicted dancing or playing the flute, surrounded by wild birds, monkeys, goats, and cows, with lotus flowers often featured throughout the composition. Lord Shiva is typically portrayed with ash-white skin and encircled by serpents, reflecting his role as the supreme yogi who dwells in cremation grounds. This course focuses on a selection of these deities, exploring the artistic techniques used to create these beautiful paintings. Students will learn traditional methods including paper preparation, staining and burnishing, colour blocking, and the application of subtle shading using fine brushes.
