Light, Pattern & Plaster: Islamic Gypsum Craft
This five-day workshop introduces participants to the traditional art of gypsum carving inspired by Islamic architecture. Students will learn traditional gypsum casting, develop their own window designs, and transfer them onto gypsum for carving. Through practical sessions, they will explore carving, cutting techniques, and the historical use of gypsum in Islamic architectural spaces. Participants will select and install coloured glass elements to complete their pieces. By the end of the workshop, each student will have created a unique A3 gypsum window, combining traditional craftsmanship with their own creative interpretation.
